SRS Air bag System Warning Light

NOTE: The air bag wire harness is entirely covered with a yellow protective tube, which helps to easily distinguish it from other system harnesses. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .

The air bag warning light is located inside the combination meter. It illuminates if a poor connection in the air bag circuit occurs, or if the air bag control module detects an abnormal condition. When the air bag system is normal, this light comes on when the ignition switch is turned ON, then goes out about seven seconds later. When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the SRS air bag system warning light will activate for about six seconds then go out. See Figure . This shows that the SRS frontal air bag, SRS side air bag (if equipped), and seatbelt pretensioner systems are operating normally. If the AIR BAG light comes on while driving, or if it remains illuminated for longer than the initial six seconds when the ignition switch was turned ON, then this may indicate that the SRS frontal air bag, SRS side air bag, or seatbelt pretensioner system is not working properly.
