	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
	Remove
1	Lift vehicle on vehicle lift
2	Remove stop plug (1) from hose of brake cover plate on left and right drum brake
	Check
3	Evaluate lining thickness of brake shoes on rear axle	If necessary, use flashlight or mirror. The thickness of the pad backing plate can be used as a guide when assessing lining thickness. Brake lining thickness If, in exceptional cases, assessment by means of visual inspection is not possible: ↓ Remove brake drum and check lining thickness of brake shoes, subject to separate repair order	*BE42.10-P-1002-12E

4	Determine likely remaining distance of brake linings on rear axle	If the wear limit for the brake linings is reached, the brake linings must be replaced subject to a separate repair order. Otherwise the braking effect may be impaired and people, property and environmental damage may result. Per axle, the brake pad with the least lining thickness is to be used for determining likely remaining distance. In order to avoid an unscheduled workshop visit between services, it is necessary to determine the remaining distance of the present brake linings. If the remaining distance determined is smaller than the next service interval, premature brake shoe replacement should be recommended to the customer.	AP42.10-P-4253-03EW

5	Seal inspection hole in brake cover plate of left and right drum brake using stop plug (1)
6	Lower vehicle with lifting platform
