DANGER Risk of death  when touching components on vehicles with high-voltage on-board electrical system Do not touch components and open lines of the high-voltage on-board electrical system. Persons who wear electronic implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers), must not carry out any work on high-voltage on-board electrical systems. AS54.00-Z-0001-01A
NOTES Note on the high-voltage on-board electrical system   AH54.00-P-0010-01A
NOTES Note on high-voltage battery   AH54.10-P-0006-01MEV

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install
1 Remove transmitter key and mains plug
2 Remove refrigerant line (2) between condenser and expansion valves IMPORTANT The front pressure side refrigerant line (3) cannot be removed separately. It can only be removed together with the front intake side refrigerant line (1). These must be disconnected from each other while removed and can be individually replaced. AR83.30-P-7817MEV
3 Disconnect electrical connector (4) from refrigerant pressure sensor (B12)
4 Remove rivet (5) and remove bracket (6) towards the front
5 Unscrew nut (10) and remove screw/bolt (11) IMPORTANT Ensure that the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace nut (10) and screw/bolt (11).
Only use the nut (10) and screw/bolt (11) that are approved for model 451. Bolts and nuts of other models with the same dimensions have different properties due to other surface coatings and may impair the strength of the bolted connection.

TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, steering coupling to rack-and-pinion steering *BA46.10-P-1001-01F
6 Pull off steering coupling (12) upwards from rack-and-pinion steering (13)
7 Remove bolts (9) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, rack-and-pinion steering to front axle carrier *BA46.20-P-1001-01G
8 Remove rack-and-pinion steering (13) from front axle carrier (14) and move forwards IMPORTANT Move rack-and-pinion steering (13) forwards far enough for front intake side refrigerant line (1) to be removed together with the front pressure side refrigerant line (3).
9 Secure rack-and-pinion steering (13) with suitable aids to prevent it from lowering NOTES Do not allow the rack-and-pinion steering (13) to hang down on the electrical lines or the tie rods.
Otherwise the components will be damaged and must be repaired or replaced accordingly.

10 Carry out disconnection of high-voltage system NOTES After completing the work, attach initial startup event log together with the power disable event log to the vehicle file. AR54.10-P-1160MEV
11 Remove high-voltage battery   AR54.10-P-1140MEV
12 Remove screw/bolt (15) and remove both brackets (17) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, refrigerant line holder to intake side/pressure side refrigerant line *BA83.55-P-1009-01V
13 Pull refrigerant lines (16) from front intake side refrigerant line (1) and front pressure side refrigerant line (3)
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Compressor oils (specification 362.0)   MB 362.0 compressor oil A 001 989 08 03
NOTES Seal off refrigerant lines (16), front intake side refrigerant line (1) and the front thrust side refrigerant line (3) with suitable stop plugs. Otherwise, penetrating dirt and moisture will damage the components that are attached to the refrigerant circuit.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing ring (20) at front intake side refrigerant line (1) and front thrust side refrigerant line (3). Coat sealing rings (20) with compressor oil when inserting
Attach refrigerant lines (16) free of tension.

14 Remove bolt (19)
15 Remove bracket (18) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check gasket (21) for damage and replace if necessary. Ensure that seal (21) is seated properly.
16 Lead front intake side refrigerant line (1) and front pressure side refrigerant line (3) together out of the body towards the front and remove INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
17 Cut cable ties (7) and remove insulation material (8) When installing a new front intake side refrigerant line (1) or front pressure side refrigerant line (3).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace cable tie (7). Check insulation material (8) for damage, install new material if necessary.

18 Install in the reverse order
