Removing and installing trim panel at D-pillar - AR68.30-P-4495ES

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on sensor system for trunk lid opening/closing   AH80.61-P-0001-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove upper side load compartment paneling (6)   AR68.30-P-1180ES 
2 Remove rear center section paneling (5)    
3 Unclip cover frame (4) from rear (arrow) toward center of vehicle SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Figure
4 Lift lower C-pillar paneling (3) from bottom and unclip toward center of vehicle SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Figure
5 Loosen guide tube (8) on rear backrest release handle (9) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Insert guide tube (8) into omega clips.  
6 Unscrew nut on rear backrest release handle (9) and remove rear backrest release handle (9) Do not remove Bowden cable from rear backrest release handle (9).  
7 Disconnect electrical connector (10) and remove from bracket IMPORTANT Only for removing guide rail (2).  
8 Remove bolts (11)    
9 Remove guide rail (2) downward from upper D-pillar paneling (1) IMPORTANT For removing upper D-pillar paneling (1) allow guide rail (2) to hang down on electrical wiring harness.  
10 Loosen upper D-pillar paneling (1) from clips (13)    
11 Disconnect electrical connector from cargo area lamp    
12 Disconnect electrical connector from speaker MODEL 212.2
with CODE 810 (Sound system)
 
13 Unclip cover frame (14) from upper D-pillar paneling (1) to center of vehicle MODEL 212.2
with CODE 844 (Rear-facing folding bench seat in load compartment)
IMPORTANT Do not remove cover frame (14) from seat belt.
 
SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Figure
14 Pull upper D-pillar paneling (1) toward rear out of cutouts (7) and remove INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure that fasteners (12) are seated correctly in recesses (7) and in relation to headliner.  
15 Install in the reverse order
