  4. SPECIAL TOOL Plug torque meter (040b) with SPECIAL TOOL connection piece (040c) and SPECIAL TOOL socket (040a) to collar nut (3) on the joint flange (1).
  5. Measure friction torque and compare against value noted before removal of joint flange (1).

If the measured value is too small:

Increase specified tightening torque by 10 Nm and retighten collar nut (3).

Increase specified tightening torque by another 10 Nm and tighten collar nut (3).

  6. Measure friction torque.

If the measured value is too small:

IMPORTANT Repeat procedure until the friction value noted before removal of the joint flange (1) is reached.

  7. Carefully drive upper collar of collar nut (3) using caulker into groove (arrow) on the drive pinion (2).

NOTES Do not apply any impacts in the axial direction.

Otherwise, the friction torque may be reduced, whereby noise may develop and there may be damage to the rear axle differential.
