Check basic position of balancing shaft - AR03.20-P-3637OM

REMOVING Remove     
1 Place camshafts (1) in basic position   AR05.20-P-6010OM
2 Remove timing case cover (6) MODEL 222 AR01.40-P-8000LFD
MODEL 164, 251 AR01.40-P-8000GZB
MODEL 166 AR01.40-P-8000OGR
MODEL 203, 209 AR01.40-P-8000PI
MODEL 204 AR01.40-P-8000CO
MODEL 211 AR01.40-P-8000TI
MODEL 219.322 AR01.40-P-8000TQ
MODEL 207, 212, 218, 221 AR01.40-P-8000SXI
MODEL 461, 463
IMPORTANT The crankshaft must not turn while belt pulley (7) is being removed.

INSPECT Check     
3 Install timing case cover (6) and belt pulley (7) provisionally without application of sealant IMPORTANT Only perform if crankshaft was turned.  
4 Check whether the TDC marking (arrow) of the belt pulley (7) is flush with the stay on the timing case cover (6), align if necessary IMPORTANT Only perform if crankshaft was turned.  
5 Remove timing case cover (6) and belt pulley (7) IMPORTANT Only perform if crankshaft was turned.  
6 Check whether markings (8) on the camshafts (1) are aligned with each other and the markings (3) on camshafts (1) must, seen in the direction of travel, be aligned on the left side to the cylinder head upper edge If markings (8) are no aligned, or if markings (3), seen in the direction of travel, are not aligned on the left side upper edge of the cylinder head, then the timing chain (9) must be placed again on camshaft sprockets (4, 5)

Remove/install camshaft sprocket

7 Check whether marking (arrow A) on balance shaft (10) points vertically upward If marking (arrow A) does not point vertically upwards, remove camshaft sprocket (4) and place timing chain (9) again on balance shaft (10)

Remove/install camshaft sprocket

8 Install timing case cover (6) MODEL 222 AR01.40-P-8000LFD

MODEL 204 AR01.40-P-8000CO
