Remove/install hydraulic valve clearance compensating elements - AR05.00-P-2011EW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove camshafts   AR05.20-P-6992EW
2 Take out roller-type cam follower (1) with compensation element (2) IMPORTANT If removing more than one compensation elements, ensure that cam followers and compensation elements not being replaced are re-installed at their previous location. Mark the cam follower for the corresponding compensation element is necessary.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Oil the cam follower and compensation element.
 
3 Detach clamp (3) by hand and remove compensation element (2) from roller-type cam follower (1)    
INSPECT Checking     
4 Check compensation element (2) for proper operation, replace if required NOTES Press compensation element together by hand only; do not use steel tools as these can damage the surface of the compensation element.
IMPORTANT The compensating element should be pressed together very slowly with the normal force of the hand. Do not apply strong pressure.
IMPORTANT If several compensation elements are defective, check pressure oil supply to the cylinder head.
 
5 Install in the reverse order    
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

6 Carry out an engine test run and check engine for leaks
