Electronic ignition/starter switch (EZS) removal and installation - AR46.10-P-0810EW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Connect Star Diagnosis and perform initial startup of electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) When replacing the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2 Move adjustable steering column forward and to the uppermost position IMPORTANT The upper position is required for removal/installation of electronic ignition lock control unit (N73).  
3 Remove steering wheel   AR46.10-P-0100EW 
4 Remove steering column tube module   AR54.25-P-2802EW
5 Remove trim ring (3) from instrument panel (8) SPECIAL TOOL Claw-type wrench for rosette on ignition/starter switch Fig 2
6.1 Remove instrument cluster cover MODEL 212

6.2 Remove left air vent at side MODEL 218  
AR83.10-P-4740EW
7 Unclip electrical line (5) from leather bag (4)    
8 Remove leather bag (4)    
9 Pull plug (1)    
10 Turn interior temperature sensor (B10/4) and remove from instrument panel MODEL 212  
11 Disconnect connector (a)    
12 Unclip electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) from instrument panel (8)    
13 Unclip cable (6) from electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) MODEL 212
without CODE 279 (Electronic gear selector)
IMPORTANTRemoval:  To do this, press retaining clips (6n) (arrows) together and remove cable (6) forwards out of the retaining lugs.
 
14 Remove electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) IMPORTANTRemoval:  To do so, push the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) from inside downward using your left hand. At the same time, press against the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) from outside using your right thumb and remove the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) toward the steering column tube.  
15 Install in the reverse order
