Preparations for distance and comparison measurements - AR40.30-P-0401EW

16.12.11 New holding pipe SPECIAL TOOL 164 589 04 63 00 added IMPORTANT The holding pipe SPECIAL TOOL 164 589 04 63 00 can be used as an alternative to the holding pipe SPECIAL TOOL 170 589 00 63 01. AR40.30-P-0401-01EW 
REMOVING Removing     
1 Align the vehicle IMPORTANT Align the vehicle horizontally in the longitudinal direction by loading with weights as appropriate.
Measure vehicle inclination across the door sills, e.g. using a spirit level		  
2.1 Remove engine compartment panels Vehicles with gasoline engine AR61.20-P-1105EW
2.2 Remove bottom section of soundproofing Vehicles with diesel engine AR94.30-P-5300EW
3 On the rear engine crossmember (63) remove the two bolts at the third threaded hole from the rear    
4 Turn in threaded bolts (07n) of suspension (07) with shims (1) IMPORTANT Use washers (1), to ensure that the threaded stud (07n) fits correctly into the rear engine crossmember (63).

5 Insert and adjust hanger (07)   AR40.30-P-0401-01EW

6 Insert telescopic measuring rod (06) with connecting parts onto retaining bolt using bubble level (024b) IMPORTANT Use relevant measuring bolt and measuring tip (024) for the corresponding distance or comparison measurement.

7 Carry out distance and comparison measurements on front and rear axles   AR40.30-P-0402CW 
INSTALLING Install     
8 Detach cradle (07) and threaded bolts (07n) SPECIAL TOOL Figure
9 Screw in bolts of rear engine crossmember (63) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA22.10-P-1005-03E 
10.1 Install engine compartment paneling. Vehicles with gasoline engine AR61.20-P-1105EW
