DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. Do not perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained. AS83.00-Z-0001-01A

  Draining     
1 Remove electric vehicle sound generator Model 451.390/392/490/492
with code B53 (Pedestrian sound module)
AR08.00-P-1000MEX
2 Remove maintenance flap    
3 Unscrew plugs (1) from diagnostic sockets of refrigerant lines (2, 3)    
4 Connect air conditioning service unit connection (4) to diagnostic socket of refrigerant line (2) and air conditioning service unit connection (5) to diagnostic socket of refrigerant line (3)    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 04 82 00 Air conditioning service unit IMPORTANT For all operation steps, the operator's manual for the air conditioning service unit (6) must be followed. WS83.00-P-0031B 
5 Extract refrigerant using air conditioning service unit (6) IMPORTANT Note down suctioned off oil fill capacity.  
  Evacuate     
6 Install new desiccant cartridge Only if refrigerant circuit has been opened. AR83.30-P-6525MCC 
7 Clean refrigerant and evacuate air conditioning system using air conditioning service unit (6)    
  Filling     
8 Replace oil filling quantity noted down during evacuation of air conditioning system with new compressor oil and route back to the refrigerant circuit NOTES Pay attention to correct oil filling quantity. Otherwise the refrigerant compressor may be damaged.  
9 Fill air conditioning system using air conditioning service unit (6) FLUID SPECIFICATION Refrigerant *BF83.30-P-1001-01C 
10 Disconnect air conditioning service unit connection (4) from diagnostic socket of refrigerant line (2) and air conditioning service unit connection (5) from diagnostic socket of refrigerant line (3)    
11 Screw plugs (1) onto diagnostic socket of refrigerant lines (2, 3)    
INSPECT Check     
12.1 Use nitrogen tester to inspect air conditioning for leaks at all points at which the system was opened Model 451.390/392/490/492  
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 10 21 00 Leak tester   WS83.00-P-0008B 
12.2 Using air conditioning leak detector, inspect air conditioning for leaks at all points at which the system was opened Model 451.3 (except 451.390/392), 451.4 (except 451.490/492)

13 Install electric vehicle sound generator Model 451.390/392/490/492
with code B53 (Pedestrian sound module)
