DTC P3000-389: Battery Control System: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV BATTERY)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs related to the EV battery system are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
DTCs related to EV Battery are not output, or DTCs other than the ones in the table below are also output. A
Any of the following DTCs are also output. B
      DTC No. Relevant Diagnosis
P1A61-123 EV Battery No. 1 Cell Low Voltage Stack "B"
P1A64-123 EV Battery No. 1 Cell Low Voltage Stack "C"
P1A71-123 EV Battery No. 2 Cell Low Voltage Stack "B"
P1A74-123 EV Battery No. 2 Cell Low Voltage Stack "C"
P31AB-123 EV Battery No. 1 Cell Low Voltage Stack "A"
P31AE-123 EV Battery No. 2 Cell Low Voltage Stack "A"

      HINT:

P3000-389 may be set due to a malfunction which also causes DTCs in the preceding table to be set. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the preceding table. Then, perform a test to attempt to reproduce the problems, and check that no DTCs are output.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   7

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs related to the EV control system are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P3000-389 or P3000-388 and P307F-123 are output simultaneously. A
      Except above. B

      HINT:

      • When DTCs P3000-389 or P3000-388 are output, P307F-123 is always output at the same time.
      • If the EV battery voltage has dropped due to a malfunction in a different component (such as the inverter with converter assembly or EV transaxle with motor assembly), recharge the battery after the malfunction has been repaired.
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   6

    A: Go to next step

      Result

      Result Proceed to
DTCs related to EV Battery are not output. A
DTCs related to EV Battery are output. B

      HINT:

If the EV battery voltage has dropped due to a malfunction in a different component (such as the inverter with converter assembly or EV transaxle with motor assembly), recharge the battery after the malfunction has been repaired.

  4. CHECK ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Wait 10 minutes or more.
    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Data List / Battery No. 1 Block Minimum Voltage and Battery No. 2 Block Minimum Voltage.
    6. Read the Data List.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
Battery No. 1 Block Minimum Voltage or Battery No. 2 Block Minimum Voltage is 21.0 V or less. A
Battery No. 1 Block Minimum Voltage or Battery No. 2 Block Minimum Voltage is 21.0 V or more. B

      HINT:

      • Check the voltage of the 24 battery blocks.
      • If none of the battery block voltages are abnormal, the battery can be restored by normal charging, but if P307F-123 is output, normal charging cannot be performed. Follow the indicated procedure to perform No. 1 - No. 2 battery voltage difference inspection, clear the battery pack malfunction fail-safe driving history, and then perform normal charging.
