DTC P0A90-509: Drive Motor "A" Performance: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs related to the EV control system are output.

      Only P0A90-509 is output or P0A90-509 and DTCs other than the ones in the table below are also output. A
      Any of the following DTCs are also output. B

      P0A78-202, 266, 267, 287, 505, 506, 586, 806, 807, 808 Drive Motor "A" Inverter Performance
      P0AA6 (all INF codes)*1 EV Battery Voltage System Isolation Fault
      P0C76-523 EV Battery System Discharge Time Too Long
      P3004-132 High Voltage Power Resource
      P3233-750 Open or Short to B+ in Blocking of EV Gate Connection

      HINT: 

      • *1: If any INF codes are output for this DTC, refer to the corresponding diagnostic procedure.
      • P0A90-509 may be output due to a malfunction which causes the DTCs in the table above to be output. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the table above. Then, perform a reproduction test to check that no DTCs are output.
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR). Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 7 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY (MOTOR CABLE CONNECTION CONDITION). Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 6 

    B → REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS 

    C → CONNECT SECURELY 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK EV TRANSAXLE WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (MG2). Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 7 

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → See step   8 

  5. CHECK EV TRANSAXLE WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (MOTOR CABLE CONNECTION CONDITION). Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 18 

    B → REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS 

    C → CONNECT SECURELY 

    A: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK MOTOR CABLE. Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 19 

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   9 

  7. GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  8. REPLACE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  9. REPLACE EV TRANSAXLE WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  10. REPLACE MOTOR CABLE. Refer to  COMPONENTS
