Inspection Procedure

HINT:

If DTC U0100 has been stored, troubleshoot the CAN communication system first.

  1. CONFIRM DTC OUTPUT (ECM) 
    1. Check DTCs (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0335 is not output A
      DTC P0335 is output B

    B: Go TO DTC P0335  (See DTC P0335 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR "A" CIRCUIT )

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (TACHOMETER) 
    1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3..
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the tester ON.
    3. Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "ACTIVE TEST" (See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST  ).

      Body Electrical / Combination meter / Active Test: 

      BODY ELECTRICAL / COMBINATION METER / ACTIVE TEST

      Item Test Details Diagnostic Note
      Tachometer Operation 0 / 1,000 / 2,000 / 3,000 / 4,000 / 5,000 / 6,000 / 7,000 rpm Value selected during Active Test is displayed

      OK: 

      Engine speed displayed on the tester is approximately the same as that of the tachometer reading. 

    NG : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TACHOMETER) 
    1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Engine start and turn the tester ON.
    3. Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "DATA LIST" (See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST  ).

      Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List: 

      BODY ELECTRICAL / COMBINATION METER / DATA LIST

      OK: 

      Engine speed displayed on the tester is approximately the same as that displayed on the combination meter. 

      NOTE: Determine whether the value displayed on the tester is within the acceptable range by referring to reference values described in "ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION " .

    NG : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK : USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
