Front Seat Belt With PRETENSIONER: Replacement

HINT:

  1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSY RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Remove the bolt and inner belt.
  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 
  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 
  8. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH 
    CAUTION:
    • Removal of the seat belt pretensioner must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
    • Carefully read the notices for the "pretensioner" in the SRS airbag system section and the front seat outer belt section.
    1. Remove the floor anchor cover.
    2. Remove the bolt and the outer belt on the floor anchor side.
    3. Remove the shoulder anchor cover.
    4. Remove the bolt and outer belt on the shoulder anchor side.
    5. Disconnect the pretensioner connector as shown in the illustration.
    6. Remove the 2 bolts on the retractor side and remove the outer belt completely.

  10. REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and anchor adjuster.
  11. INSTALL FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY 
    1. Install the anchor adjuster with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

  12. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH 
    NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
    1. Before installing the ELR, check the ELR.
      1. Check that the belt does not lock within 15° of tilt in all directions but locks with over 45° of tilt when gently moving the retractor.

        If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assy.

    2. Install the outer belt with the 2 bolts on the retractor side.

      Torque: 

      5.5 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) for upper bolt 

      42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) for lower bolt 

    3. Connect the pretensioner connector as shown in the illustration.
    4. Install the outer belt with the bolt on the shoulder anchor side.

      Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

    5. Install the shoulder anchor cover.
    6. Install the outer belt with the bolt on the floor anchor side.

      Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

    7. Install the floor anchor cover.
    8. After installing the ELR, check the ELR.

      NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
      1. With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.

        If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assy.

    9. Check the fastening function of the child restraint system.
      NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
      1. When the belt is pulled out fully, the belt should automatically try to retract.
      2. After the belt has fully retracted, the belt should be able to be pulled out and retracted again.

      If operation is not as specified, replace the belt assy.

  13. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Install the inner belt with the bolt.

      Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

  14. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSY RH (See  REPLACEMENT  )
