Front Seat Belt With PRETENSIONER: Replacement
HINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in the reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the RH side.
- DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSY RH (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH
- Remove the bolt and inner belt.
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
- REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
- REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER RH (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH CAUTION:
- Removal of the seat belt pretensioner must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
- Carefully read the notices for the "pretensioner" in the SRS airbag system section and the front seat outer belt section.
- Remove the floor anchor cover.
- Remove the bolt and the outer belt on the floor anchor side.
- Remove the shoulder anchor cover.
- Remove the bolt and outer belt on the shoulder anchor side.
- Disconnect the pretensioner connector as shown in the illustration.
- Remove the 2 bolts on the retractor side and remove the outer belt completely.
- REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY
- Remove the 2 bolts and anchor adjuster.
- INSTALL FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY
- Install the anchor adjuster with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- Install the anchor adjuster with the 2 bolts.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
- Before installing the ELR, check the ELR.
- Check that the belt does not lock within 15° of tilt in all directions but locks with over 45° of tilt when gently moving the retractor.
If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assy.
- Check that the belt does not lock within 15° of tilt in all directions but locks with over 45° of tilt when gently moving the retractor.
- Install the outer belt with the 2 bolts on the retractor side.
Torque:
5.5 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) for upper bolt
42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) for lower bolt
- Connect the pretensioner connector as shown in the illustration.
- Install the outer belt with the bolt on the shoulder anchor side.
Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- Install the shoulder anchor cover.
- Install the outer belt with the bolt on the floor anchor side.
Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- Install the floor anchor cover.
- After installing the ELR, check the ELR.
NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
- With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.
If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assy.
- With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.
- Check the fastening function of the child restraint system.NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
- When the belt is pulled out fully, the belt should automatically try to retract.
- After the belt has fully retracted, the belt should be able to be pulled out and retracted again.
If operation is not as specified, replace the belt assy.
- Before installing the ELR, check the ELR.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH
- Install the inner belt with the bolt.
Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- Install the inner belt with the bolt.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSY RH (See REPLACEMENT )
