Front Seat ASSY: Replacement

HINT:

CAUTION: Wear protective gloves. Sharp surfaces on the seatback spring and seat adjuster can cause injuries to your hands.
  1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Work must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned LOCK and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
    (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds of turning the ignition switch LOCK and disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.)
  2. REMOVE SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER INNER LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the seat track cover.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  3. REMOVE SEAT TRACK OUTER COVER LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the seat track cover.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts.
    2. Disconnect the connectors.
    3. Remove the seat.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

  5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSY 
  6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Disconnect the wire harness of the inner belt from the seat adjuster.
    2. Remove the bolt and inner belt.
  7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH 
    1. Remove the clip and screw.
    2. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and remove the seat cushion shield.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  8. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE LH 
    1. Raise the reclining adjuster release handle to reveal the claw. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and remove the release handle.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the seat cushion shield.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  10. w/Seat hook: REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK HOOK 
    1. Remove the screw and seatback hook.

  11. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the hog rings.

    2. Lift up the seatback cover and remove the hog rings.

    3. Disconnect the clamps.
    4. Remove the 4 bolts and seatback.

  12. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT 
    1. Lift up the seatback cover to the top, and then disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 headrest supports.

  13. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK SPRING ASSY 
    1. w/ Side airbag:

      Using a screwdriver, pry out the hanger as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE: Take care not to damage the airbag.

    2. Remove the hog rings and seatback spring.
  14. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER LH 
    1. Remove the hog rings and remove the seatback cover.
  15. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER LH 
    1. Remove the hog rings.
    2. Disengage the claw of the front part of the seat adjuster.
    3. Disengage the hook and remove the seat cushion cover (with pad).
    4. Remove the hog rings and seat cushion cover.

  16. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH 
    1. Remove the screw and adjuster inside cover.
  17. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH 
    1. Remove the screw and adjuster inside cover.
  18. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR (See  REPLACEMENT  )

  19. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER LH 
    1. Install the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion pad with new hog rings.
    2. Install the seat cushion cover (with pad) to the seat adjuster.
      NOTE:
      • Do not damage or contaminate the seat cushion cover.
      • When installing the hog rings, take care to minimize wrinkles as much as possible.

  20. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK COVER LH 
    1. Install the seatback cover to the seatback pad with new hog rings.
    2. Install the seatback cover (with pad) to the front seatback frame.
      NOTE:
      • Do not damage or contaminate the seatback cover.
      • When installing the hog rings, take care to minimize wrinkles as much as possible.
    3. Install the 2 headrest supports.

  21. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK ASSY LH 
    1. Install the seatback with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 43 N.m (440 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

    2. Install new hog rings to the backside of the seatback.
    3. Install the headrest.

  22. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH 

    Torque: 41 N.m (418 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) 

  23. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSY LH 
    1. Put the seat on the cabin.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
    2. Connect the connectors.
    3. Install the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 37 N.m (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

    4. Install the inner and outer seat track covers.

  24. CHECK SRS WARNING LAMP (See  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  )
