Brake Actuator ASSY: Replacement
- DRAIN BRAKE FLUID NOTE: Wash off the brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.
- REMOVE BATTERY CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent air bag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
- REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET
- Release the latch of the actuator connector to disconnect the connector.
- Using SST, disconnect the 6 brake lines from the actuator.

- Use tags or marks to the reconnection points.
- Remove the 3 bolts and actuator.
- REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY
- Remove the 2 nuts and actuator from the actuator bracket.
- INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY
- Install the actuator to the actuator bracket with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)
- Install the actuator to the actuator bracket with the 2 nuts.
- INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET
- Install the actuator with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 19 N.m (194 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)
- Using SST, connect the 6 brake lines to the correct position of the actuator, as shown in Fig 5
.

Torque:
- 15 N.m (155 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf) without SST
- 14 N.m (143 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf) with SST
HINT:
Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30 cm (11.81 in.).
- Connect the actuator connector.
- Install the actuator with the 3 bolts.
- INSTALL BATTERY
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION (See INITIALIZATION
) NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID (See BRAKE FLUID )
- BLEED AIR FROM MASTER CYLINDER (See BRAKE FLUID )
- BLEED AIR FROM BRAKE LINE (See BRAKE FLUID )
- CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR (See BRAKE FLUID )
- CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE
- CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH HAND-HELD TESTER (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )
