Inspection Procedure
- CHECK DTC FOR VSC
- Check if the DTCs for VSC are recorded (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
Result:
RESULT REFERENCEResult Proceed to DTC is output A DTC is not output B - B : Go to step 2
- A : REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR SECURELY CONNECTED
- NO : CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU
- YES : GO TO NEXT STEP.
- INSPECT BATTERY
- Check the battery voltage.
Standard: 11 to 14 V
- NG : INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM
- OK : GO TO NEXT STEP.
- Check the battery voltage.
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (IG1 TERMINAL)
When using hand-held tester:
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Start the engine.
- Select the DATA LIST mode on the hand-held tester.
- Check the voltage output from the ECU displayed on the hand-held tester.

TOO LOW: Below 9.5 V- OK : NORMAL is displayed.
When not using hand-held tester:
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Measure the voltage according to the table below.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Specified Condition S1-46 (IG1) - Body ground 11 to 14 V - NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IG1 CIRCUIT)
- OK : GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the table below.
Standard:

- NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GND CIRCUIT)
- OK : GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK VSC WARNING LIGHT
When using hand-held tester:
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3 and start the engine.
- Select the "VSC WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the VSC warning lamp on the hand-held tester.
- Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the VSC warning lamp can be shown on the combination meter by the hand-held tester.

- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the connector from the skid control ECU.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Check that the VSC warning lamp turns off.
OK : VSC warning lamp turns off.
- NG : CHECK AND REPAIR VSC WARNING LAMP CIRCUIT
- OK : REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (See REPLACEMENT )
NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assy, perform the zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION ).
