Inspection Procedure

HINT: Start the inspection from step  1 when using the hand-held tester, and start from step  2 when not using the hand-held tester.

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND-HELD TESTER (SKID CONTROL BUZZER) 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Select "VSC/BR WARN BUZ" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the skid control buzzer on the hand-held tester.
    4. Check that skid control buzzer sounds "ON" and "OFF" with the hand-held tester.
    VEHICLE CONDITION / TEST DETAILS REFERENCE

    Item Vehicle Condition / Test Details Diagnostic Note
    VSC / BR WARN BUZ Turns VSC / BRAKE warning buzzer ON / OFF Buzzer can be heard
    1. NG : Go to step   2 
    2. OK : REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
    NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assy, perform the zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION  ).
  2. INSPECT SKID CONTROL BUZZER ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the skid control buzzer connector.
    2. Apply positive (+) battery voltage to terminals 1 and 2 of the skid control buzzer connector. Check that the buzzer sounds.

      Standard: The skid control buzzer sound is heard.

    1. NG : REPLACE SKID CONTROL BUZZER ASSY 
    2. OK : GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL BUZZER - SKID CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control buzzer connector and the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the table below.

    Standard: 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    BZ (S1-30) - BZ (V5-1) Below 1 Ω
    BZ (S1-30) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK : REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
    NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assy, perform the zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION  ).
