Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH OPERATION (STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT) 
    1. Check that the stop lamp turns on when the brake pedal is depressed and turns off when the brake pedal is released.

      OK : Stop lamp switch function is normal. 

    1. NG : Go to step   5 
    2. OK : GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  2. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (STP TERMINAL) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the table below.

    Standard: 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    S1 -27 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V
    S1 -27 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal released 1.5 V or less

    1. NG : Go to step   4 
    2. OK : GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  3. RECONFIRM DTC 

    HINT: This DTC will be displayed when the internal malfunction of the brake actuator assy is detected. Therefore, perform the recurrence test before replacing the brake actuator assy to check that the DTC is displayed.

    1. Clear the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
    2. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 6 km/h (4 mph) or more.
    3. Is DTC output?

    Result: 

    RESULT REFERENCE

    Result Proceed to
    C1249 is output A
    DTC is not output B
    1. B : END 
    2. A : REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
    NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assy, perform the zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION  ).
  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STOP LAMP SWITCH - SKID CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the stop lamp switch connector and skid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the table below.

    Standard: 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    S1-27 (STP) - S6-1 (STP) Below 1 Ω

    1. NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK : GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  5. INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the stop lamp switch assy connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the table below.

    Standard: 

    SWITCH CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    1 -2 Switch pin not pushed Below 1 Ω
    1 - 2 Switch pin pushed 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG : REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
