Inspection Procedure
HINT: Start the inspection from step 1 when using the hand-held tester, and start from step 2 when not using the hand-held tester.
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND-HELD TESTER (BRAKE WARNING LAMP)
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Start the engine.
- Select "BRAKE WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the brake warning lamp on the hand-held tester.
- Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the brake warning lamp is shown on the combination meter by the hand-held tester.

- CHECK DTC FOR ABS
- Check if the DTCs are detected (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

- A : REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE
- INSPECT PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY
- Remove the parking brake switch.
- Measure the resistance according to the table below.
Standard:
SWITCH CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Switch Condition Specified condition P4-1 - Ground part Not pushed 10 kΩ or higher P4-1 - Ground part Pushed Below 1 Ω - NG : REPLACE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY
- OK : GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL ECU - PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector and the parking brake switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according the table below.
Standard:

- NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK : GO TO NEXT STEP.
- INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WARNING SWITCH
- Remove the reservoir tank cap and strainer.
- Disconnect the brake fluid level warning switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the table below.
Standard:
SWITCH CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Switch Condition Specified condition B2-1 - B2-2 Float UP 10 kΩ or higher B2-1 - B2-2 Float DOWN Below 1 Ω - NG : REPLACE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR SUB-ASSY
- OK : GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WARNING SWITCH - COMBINATION METER)
- Disconnect the combination meter connector and the brake fluid level warning switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the table below.
Standard:

- NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK : GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER)
- Disconnect the combination meter connector and the skid control connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the table below.
Standard:

- NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK : REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (See REPLACEMENT )
NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assy, perform the zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION ).
