Front Seat Belt With PRETENSIONER: Replacement
HINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (See SPECIFIED TORQUE FOR STANDARD BOLTS ).
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSY (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSY LH (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE SIDE NO. 1 TRIM ASSY LH (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH CAUTION:
- Removal of the seat belt pretensioner must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF and after the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Carefully read the notices for the pretensioner in the SRS article and the front seat outer belt article (See SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM ).
- To disconnect the pretensioner connector: 1) pull out the lock part of the connector as indicated by the black arrow in the illustration, and 2) remove the connector.
- Remove the 3 bolts and outer belt.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
- Remove the front seat LH (See OVERHAUL ).
- Disconnect the 3 connectors and then detach the 5 claws.
- Remove the nut and inner belt.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
- Install the inner belt with the nut.
- Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- Install the inner belt with the nut.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
- Before installing the ELR, check the ELR.
- When the inclination of the retractor is 15Ω or less, check that the belt can be pulled from the retractor. When the inclination of the retractor is over45°, check that the belt locks.
If operation is not as specified, replace the seat belt assy.
- Install the outer belt with the 3 bolts.
- Torque:
- 4.9 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf) for bolt A
- 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) for bolt B
- Install the floor anchor with the bolt (See REPLACEMENT ).
- Connect the pretensioner connector as shown in Fig 5 .
- After installing the ELR, check the ELR.
NOTE: The check should be performed with the outer belt installed.
- With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.
If operation is not as specified, replace the seat belt assy.
- Check the fastening function of the child restraint system.NOTE: The check should be performed with the outer belt installed.
- When the belt is pulled out fully, the belt should automatically try to retract.
- After the belt has fully retracted, the belt should be able to be pulled out and retracted again.
If operation is not as specified, replace the seat belt assy.
- Before installing the ELR, check the ELR.
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION (See INITIALIZATION )
- CHECK SRS WARNING LAMP (See SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM )
