Rear Seat: Overhaul

HINT:

CAUTION: Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the seatback frame can cause injuries to your hands.
  1. REMOVE TONNEAU COVER ASSY 
  2. REMOVE DECK BOARD SUB-ASSY 
  3. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSY 
    1. Pull up the 2 front portions of the seat cushion.
      NOTE: The cushion frame deforms easily. To avoid deforming the seat cushion, place your hands near the hook as shown in Fig 1 , and then pull the seat cushion upward. Repeat for the other hook.

    2. Remove the inner belts through the slits on the seat cushion.
    3. Remove the 2 seat cushion hooks from the seatback frame. Then remove the seat cushion.

  4. REMOVE DECK BOARD NO. 1 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  5. REMOVE CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT TETHER ANCHOR COVER 
    1. Detach the 12 claws and remove the 3 anchor covers as shown in Fig 3 .

  6. REMOVE CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT TETHER ANCHOR BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and 3 anchor brackets.
  7. REMOVE REAR FLOOR BOARD NO. 1 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  8. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSY LH 
    1. Fully fold the seatback forward.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts on the rear side of the seatback.
    3. Return the seatback to the upright position.
    4. Remove the 2 bolts on the front side of the seatback. Then remove the seatback.
    NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

  9. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSY RH 
    1. Remove the bolt and rear seat 3-point type belt floor anchor.
    2. Fully fold the seatback forward.
    3. Remove the 2 bolts on the rear side of the seatback.
    4. Return the seatback to the upright position.
    5. Remove the 2 bolts on the front side of the seatback.

      Then remove the seatback.

    NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

  10. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSY LH 
  11. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSY RH 
  12. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSY CENTER 
  13. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION LOCK HOOK 
    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the claws and remove the 2 lock hooks.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  14. REMOVE NO. 3 SEAT LEG SUB-ASSY 
    1. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
    2. Partially remove the floor carpet, and remove the 4 bolts and seat leg.
  15. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    1. Remove the hog rings and seat cushion cover from the seat cushion pad.
  16. REMOVE REAR SEAT RECLINING COVER NO. 2 LH 
    1. Remove the clip and reclining cover in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in Fig 6 .

  17. REMOVE REAR SEAT RECLINING COVER LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the reclining cover No. 2 LH.

  18. REMOVE REAR SEAT RECLINING COVER NO. 2 RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  19. REMOVE REAR SEAT LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSY LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the rear seatback lock striker cover.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the 2 screws.

    3. Remove the 2 reclining control cables as shown in Fig 8 . Then remove the control lever.

  20. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK COVER LH 
    1. Remove the hog rings. Open the lower part of the seat-back cover.
    2. Open the zipper.

    3. Pull the seatback board in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in Fig 10 to detach the 2 claws labeled A.
    4. Pull the seatback board in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in Fig 10 to detach the 2 hooks labeled B. Then, remove the seatback board.

    5. Detach the 4 claws and remove the 2 headrest supports.
    6. Remove the seatback cover (with pad) from the seatback frame.
    7. Remove the hog rings and seatback cover from the seat-back pad.

  21. REMOVE REAR SEAT RECLINING CONTROL CABLE LH 
    1. Remove the 2 control cables as shown in Fig 12 .

  22. REMOVE REAR SEAT LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSY RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  23. REMOVE REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT GUIDE CENTER 
    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws labeled A.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Pull the inside cover in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in Fig 13 to detach the claw. Then, remove the bracket cover.

  24. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK COVER RH 
    1. Remove the hog rings. Open the lower part of the seat-back cover.
    2. Open the zipper.

    3. Pull the seatback board in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in Fig 15 to detach the 2 claws labeled A.
    4. Pull the seatback board in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in Fig 15 to detach the 3 hooks labeled B.

      Then remove the seatback board.

    5. Detach the 8 claws and remove the 4 headrest supports.
    6. Remove the seatback cover (with pad) from the seatback frame.
    7. Remove the hog rings and seatback cover from the seat-back pad.

  25. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE HINGE MALE COVER RH 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the male cover.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  26. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE HINGE MALE COVER LH 
    1. Remove the male cover in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in Fig 18 .

  27. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE HINGE MALE COVER 
    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the claws and remove the male cover.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  28. REMOVE REAR SEAT 3-POINT TYPE BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Detach the 2 claws and open the shoulder belt cover.

    2. Detach the hook.
    3. Remove the 4 nuts and belt.

  29. REMOVE REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT COVER RH 
    1. Detach the 3 claws and remove the belt cover.

  30. REMOVE REAR SEAT RECLINING CONTROL CABLE RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  31. INSTALL REAR SEAT 3-POINT TYPE BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Install the belt with the nut as shown in Fig 22 .
      1. Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 
    2. Attach the hook.

    3. Align the holes of the 3 parts in Fig 23 , and then install the 3 nuts.

    HINT:

    Before tightening the nuts, raise the seatback to the upright position and make sure the seatback stops in the first lock position of the frame.

  32. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK COVER LH 
    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage the cover.
    • When installing the hog rings, take care to minimize wrinkles as much as possible.
    1. Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover to the seatback pad with new hog rings.
    2. Install the seatback cover (with pad) to the seatback frame.
    3. Install the 2 headrest supports.
    4. Install the seatback board to the seatback frame.
    5. Close the zipper.
    6. Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover (with pad) with new hog rings.

  33. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK COVER RH 
    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage the cover.
    • When installing the hog rings, take care to minimize wrinkles as much as possible.
    1. Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover to the seatback pad with new hog rings.
    2. Install the seatback cover (with pad) to the seatback frame.
    3. Install the 4 headrest supports.
    4. Install the seatback board to the seatback frame.
    5. Close the zipper.
    6. Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover (with pad) with new hog rings.
  34. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    1. Using hog ring pliers, install the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion pad with new hog rings.
    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage the cover.
    • When installing the hog rings, take care to minimize wrinkles as much as possible.
  35. INSTALL NO. 3 SEAT LEG SUB-ASSY 
    1. Install the seat leg with the 4 bolts.
      1. Torque: 40 N.m (408 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) 
  36. INSTALL CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT TETHER ANCHOR BRACKET 
    1. Install the 3 brackets with the 3 bolts.
      1. Torque: 19.6 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) 
  37. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK ASSY LH 
    1. Place the seat in the cabin.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
    2. Tighten the 4 bolts in the order indicated in Fig 26 .
      1. Torque: 40 N.m (408 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)

  38. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK ASSY RH 
    1. Place the seat in the cabin.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
    2. Tighten the 4 bolts in the order indicated in Fig 27 .
      1. Torque: 40 N.m (408 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) 
    3. Install the rear seat 3-point type belt floor anchor with the bolt.
      1. Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

  39. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSY 
    1. Attach the 2 seat cushion's rear hooks to the seatback frame.
    2. Insert the inner belts through the slits on the seat cushion.

    3. Attach the 2 seat cushion's front hooks to the rear seat cushion lock hooks.

    HINT:

    Confirm that the seat cushion is firmly installed.
