Inspection Procedure
- CHECK DTC FOR VSC
- Check if the DTCs for VSC are recorded. (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR )
- NO : Go to step 2
- YES : REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR SECURELY CONNECTED
- NO : CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU
- YES : Go to next step.
- INSPECT BATTERY
- Check battery positive voltage.
Standard:
Voltage: 11 to 14 V
- NG: INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM
- OK: Go to next step.
- Check battery positive voltage.
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (IG1 TERMINAL)
WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER:
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Start the engine.
- Select the DATA LIST mode on the hand-held tester.
- Check the voltage condition output from the ECU displayed on the hand-held tester.IG VOLTAGE REFERENCE
Item Measurement Item / Range (Display Normal Condition Diagnostic Note IG VOLTAGE ECU power supply voltage/NORMAL or TOOL LOW NORMAL: 9.5 V or over
TOO LOW: Below 9.5 V- Standard:
"NORMAL" is displayed.
WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER:
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:

- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND RESISTANCETester Connection Specified Condition GND (S3-1, 32) - Body ground 1 Ω or less
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK VSC WARNING LIGHT
WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER:
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3 and start the engine.
- Select the item "VSC WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the VSC warning light on the hand-held tester.
- Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the VSC warning light can be shown on the combination meter by the hand-held tester.VSC WARNING LIGHT REFERENCE

WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER:
- Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the connector from the skid control ECU.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Check the VSC warning light turns off.
Standard:
VSC warning light turns off.
- NG: CHECK AND REPAIR VSC WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT
- OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (See BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY
) NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assy, perform the zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION ).
