Inspection Procedure
- CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH OPERATION (STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT)
- Check that the stop light comes on when the brake pedal is depressed and turns off when the brake pedal is released.
Standard:
Stop lamp switch function normal.
- NG: Go to step 4
- OK: Go to next step.
- Check that the stop light comes on when the brake pedal is depressed and turns off when the brake pedal is released.
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (STP TERMINAL)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
STP TERMINAL VOLTAGETester Connection Condition Specified condition STP1 (S3-27) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V S3 Brake pedal released 1.5 V or less
- NG: Go to step 3
- OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (See BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY
) NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assy, perform the zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION ).
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LAMP SWITCH - SKID CONTROL ECU)
- Disconnect the stop lamp switch connector and skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
STOP LAMP SWITCH - SKID CONTROL ECU RESISTANCETester Connection Specified Condition STP1 (S3-27) - STP (S8-1) 1 Ω or less
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: Go to next step.
- INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY
- Disconnect the stop lamp switch assy connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY RESISTANCESwitch condition Tester connection Specified condition Switch pin free 1 - 2 1 Ω or less Switch pin pushed in 1 - 2 10 kΩor higher
- NG: REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY
- OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
