Piston, Connecting Rod, and Bearing Removal

Tools Required
- J-43966-1 Connecting Rod Guides. See Special Tools .
- J 41742 Connecting Rod Guides. See Special Tools .
- Rotate the crankshaft to a position where the connecting rod bolts are the most accessible.
- Mark the connecting rod and cap with the cylinder position. Also mark their orientation. This will ensure the caps and connecting rods are re-assembled properly.
- Remove any ridge at the top of the cylinder bore to avoid damage to the piston ring lands.
- Remove the connecting rod bolts.
- Remove the connecting rod cap.
- Install J-43966-1 /. See Special Tools .J 41742 on the connecting rod bolts before removing the piston and connecting rod assembly. See Special Tools .
- Remove the piston and connecting rod assembly.
