Driver Inflator Module (Air Bag): Removal

  1. Disable the SIR System. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM procedure.
  2. Turn steering wheel to 3 o'clock position.
  3. Remove inflator module by inserting a stubby flat blade screw driver into the triangle shaped hole in rear steering wheel shroud.
  4. Turn screw driver to release spring fastener, while lifting up on corner of bag closest to that fastener.

  6. Repeat for second fastener.
  7. Turn steering wheel to 9 o'clock position.
  8. Repeat steps  45 until all spring fasteners are released.
  9. Disconnect inflator module harness and horn lead.
  10. Remove inflator module.
