Disabling System

NOTE: When AIR BAG fuse is removed and ignition is on, AIR BAG warning light will be on. This does not indicate a system malfunction.
  1. Turn steering wheel to place vehicle wheels in straight-ahead position.
  2. Remove IGN1 fuse (10-amp) from under hood fuse block. Remove driver-side knee bolster (steering column filler). Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clips and disconnect driver-side and passenger-side air bag module Yellow 2-pin connectors at base of steering column. See Fig 1.
  3. On models equipped with head impact air bags, remove upper seat belt shoulder bolt from left and right rear seat belts. Fold down rear seat. Remove upper quarter panel trim assembly from driver-side and passenger-side C-pillars on sedan or D-pillars on wagon. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clips and disconnect driver-side and passenger-side for head impact air bag module Yellow 2-pin connectors. See Fig 2.
