- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect right side impact sensor connector. Inspect both halves of connector for open circuit or pin slide-out. Repair as necessary. Disconnect air bag control module harness connector. Check air bag control module harness connector terminals No. 43 (Brown/Orange wire) and No. 44 (Red/Blue wire) for open circuit or pin slide-out. Repair as necessary and go to step 2. See Figure.
- Install air bag control module harness connector to Breakout Box (BOB). Measure resistance between BOB test pin No. 43 and Brown/Orange wire of right side impact sensor harness connector. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 3. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, repair or replace Brown/Orange wire between air bag control module and side impact sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Go to step 6.
- Measure resistance between ground and BOB terminal No. 43. If resistance is infinite, go to step 4. If resistance is not infinite, repair or replace Brown/Orange wire between air bag control module and side impact sensor. Go to step 6.
- Measure resistance between BOB terminal No. 44 and Red/Blue wire of right side impact sensor harness connector. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 5. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, repair or replace Red/Blue wire between air bag control module and side impact sensor. Go to step 6.
- Measure resistance between ground and BOB terminal No. 44. If resistance is infinite, replace right side impact. Go to step 6. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, repair or replace Red/Blue wire between air bag control module and side impact sensor. Go to step 6.
- Reassemble vehicle. Clear diagnostic codes in all systems. Road test vehicle at various speeds and loads. Verify no diagnostic trouble codes are present. If no diagnostic trouble codes are present, repairs are complete. If diagnostic trouble codes are present, go to BEFORE REPLACING AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE under DIAGNOSTICS.
