DTC B2866, DTC B2867, DTC B2868 & DTC B2869:

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect 29-pin seat harness connector located under right front seat. Inspect both halves of connector for open circuit or pin slide-out. Repair as necessary. Install Reference Resistor (86 12 335) on air bag control module side of 29-pin seat harness connector. Disconnect air bag control module harness connector. Check air bag control module harness connector terminals No. 13 (Brown/Yellow wire) and No. 14 (Red/Yellow wire) for open circuit or pin slide-out. Repair as necessary. See Figure. Install air bag control module harness connector to Breakout Box (BOB). For diagnostic trouble codes B2868 or B2869, go to step  2. For diagnostic trouble codes B2866 or B2867, go to step  3.
  2. Measure resistance between BOB test pins No. 13 and 14. If resistance is 2-4 ohms, replace passenger-side seat air bag. Go to step  5. If resistance is not 2-4 ohms, repair or replace Brown/Yellow wire or Red/Yellow wire between air bag control module harness connector and 29-pin seat harness connector. Go to step  5.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and BOB test pin No. 13. If resistance is infinite, go to step  4. If resistance is not infinite, repair or replace Brown/Yellow wire between air bag control module harness connector and 29-pin seat harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Go to step  5.
  4. Measure resistance between ground and BOB test pin No. 14. If resistance is infinite, replace passenger-side seat air bag. Go to step  5. If resistance is not infinite, repair or replace Red/Yellow wire between air bag control module harness connector and 29-pin seat harness connector. Go to step  5.
  5. Reassemble vehicle. Clear diagnostic codes in all systems. Road test vehicle at various speeds and loads. Verify no diagnostic trouble codes are present. If no diagnostic trouble codes are present, repairs are complete. If diagnostic trouble codes are present, go to BEFORE REPLACING AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE  under DIAGNOSTICS.
