DTC B1332, DTC B1333, DTC B2332 & DTC B2333:

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect air bag control module harness connector and install Breakout Box (BOB). Remove driver-side air bag module. See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect upper clockspring connector for damage. Repair or replace as necessary. Connect Reference Resistor (86 12 095) to upper clockspring connector. Disconnect and inspect Orange, 3-pin lower clockspring connector for damage. Repair or replace as necessary.
  2. For diagnostic trouble codes B1332 or B1333, go to step  3. For diagnostic trouble codes B2332 or B2333, go to step  5.
  3. Reconnect Orange, 3-pin lower clockspring connector. Measure resistance between terminals No. 1 (Orange wire) and No. 3 (Red/White wire) of lower clockspring connector. If resistance is 2-4 ohms, go to step  4. If resistance is not 2-4 ohms, replace clockspring. Go to step  9.
  4. Disconnect lower clockspring connector. Inspect both connector halves for open circuit or pin slide-out. Repair as necessary. Reconnect electrical connector. Disconnect BOB from air bag control module harness connector. Inspect air bag control module harness connector terminals No. 1 (Orange wire) and No. 2 (Red/White wire) for open circuit or pin slide-out. Repair as necessary. See Fig 1. Reconnect BOB to air bag control module harness connector. Measure resistance between BOB test pins No. 1 and 2. If resistance is 3-5 ohms, replace driver-side air bag module. Go to step  9. If resistance is not 3-5 ohms, repair or replace wiring between air bag control module and lower clockspring connector. Go to step  9.
  5. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Orange wire) on clockspring side of lower clockspring connector. If resistance is infinite, go to step  6. If resistance is not infinite, replace clockspring. Go to step  9.
  6. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (Red/White wire) on clockspring side of lower clockspring connector. If resistance is infinite, go to step  7. If resistance is not infinite, replace clockspring. Go to step  9.
  7. Inspect electrical connectors at clockspring-to-main harness connector and at main harness connector-to-BOB for damaged connections. Repair as necessary and reconnect both connectors. Measure resistance between ground and BOB test pin No. 1. If resistance is infinite, go to step  8. If resistance is not infinite, repair Orange wire between air bag control module and lower clockspring connector. Go to step  9.
  8. Measure resistance between ground and BOB test pin No. 2. If resistance is infinite, replace driver-side air bag module. Go to step  9. If resistance is not infinite, repair Red/White wire between air bag control module and lower clockspring connector. Go to step  9.
  9. Reconnect all electrical connectors. Clear all diagnostic trouble codes. Road test vehicle at various engine speeds and loads for at least 5 minutes. Ensure no diagnostic trouble codes are present in system. If no diagnostic trouble codes are present, repair was successful. If diagnostic codes are present, go to BEFORE REPLACING AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE  under DIAGNOSTICS.
