DTC B1227 & DTC B1228:

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. If instrument panel is live, go to step 2. If instrument panel is not functioning, diagnose instrument panel failure.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster 20-pin connector. Connect Test Light (86 11 857) between battery voltage (B+) and instrument cluster connector Blue wire (terminal No. 5). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Test light should illuminate for 3 seconds, turn off for 5 second and illuminate again. If test light functions as described, check circuit wiring. If circuit wiring is okay, replace AIR BAG warning light bulb. Go to step 4.
- If test light does not function as described, repair or replace Blue wire between instrument cluster and air bag control module. Go to step 4.
- Reassemble vehicle. Clear diagnostic codes in all systems. Road test vehicle at various speeds and loads. Verify no diagnostic trouble codes are present. If no diagnostic trouble codes are present, repairs are complete. If diagnostic trouble codes are present, go to BEFORE REPLACING AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE under DIAGNOSTICS.
