Preparing B-Pillar For Installation

Information
- Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive.
- The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed.
- Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available.
- Fit in B-pillar > B-pillar.
B-pillar
- 1.1 Cut the B-pillar > B-pillar at the point where it joins the roof leaving an overlap of 30 mm.
- 1.2 Fit in and secure the B-pillar > B-pillar.
- Make cuts > Separation points
through the B-pillar and body in the overlap areas.
Separation points
- Punch holes > Holes for flow-form rivets

Holes for flow-form rivets
- Drill bore holes > Bore holes for rivets
for rivets through both sheetmetal panels. > Diameter 6.6 mm
Bore holes for rivets
- Remove B-pillar.
- Cut sheetmetal inserts used as a welding backing strip for the two weld areas from the old B-pillar.
- Prepare marked areas > Bonding and rivet areas on B-pillar
for bonding and riveting.

- Prepare marked areas > Welding areas
for a full weld using inert gas.
