Preparing A-Pillar For Installation

Information 

  1. Fit the A-pillar.
    1. 1.1  Cut the A-pillar at the transition point to the body leaving an overlap of 30 mm. > A-pillar

    2. 1.2  Fit in A-pillar and secure it to the body.

    3. 1.3  Make cuts through the A-pillar and body in the overlap areas. > Separation points

  2. Punch holes for flow-form rivets in area -A-  using > VAS 852 001 - dent removal unit  and > VAS 6790 - compact booster  .

    Flow-form rivets

  3. Cut sheetmetal inserts used as a welding backing strip for the two weld areas from the old A-pillar.

  4. Remove A-pillar.
  5. Prepare marked areas > Bonding areas on A-pillar  for bonding and riveting.

  6. Prepare marked areas > Welding area on A-pillar  for resistance spot-welding.

  7. Prepare connection areas > Connection areas on A-pillar  for welding.
