Installing Side Section Lower Part

Information

Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive.
The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed.
Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available.

Position side section lower part, check that it fits perfectly and remove again.
Apply adhesive on the joint area -1- of the body.

> Application depth 0.5 mm

Outer side section lower part
1. 3.1 Apply adhesive on side section lower part > Outer side section lower part.
  >5X00IN21 WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE
  
  > Application depth 0.5 mm
2. 3.2 Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surfaces of the side section lower part > Outer side section lower part.
  > Application depth 3.0 mm
Apply adhesive.

Inner side section lower part
1. 4.1 Apply adhesive on side section lower part > Inner side section lower part.
  >5X00IN21 WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE
  
  > Application depth 0.5 mm
2. 4.2 Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surfaces of the side section lower part > Inner side section lower part.
  > Application depth 3.0 mm
Set rivets.

Punch rivets and penetrated joints
1. 5.1 Set blind rivets.
  Area -1- : > BLIND RIVETS 999.190.229.01
  
  Information
  
  Countersunk head of the flow-form rivets must be pointing inwards. Observe the required punch and joining direction.
2. 5.2 Set flow-form rivets.
  >5X00IN23 REPLACING PUNCH RIVETS AND PENETRATED JOINTS
  
  Area -2- : > RIVET 9A7.008.606.00
Screw self-tapping screws -1- into rear closing panel -2- .
>5X00IN24 SETTING SELF-TAPPING SCREWS
