Removing Rear Side Panel

Information 

The insulating mat will be damaged irreparably during removal and must be replaced.

Information 

Only make cuts in the top plate. Male sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

Information 

Mark cuts in accordance with the new part. Make sure to leave an overlap of approx. 30 mm with respect to the body.

Information 

Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

  1. Unscrew self-tapping screws -1-  from rear closing panel -2-  .

  2. Mark cuts.
    1. 2.1  Mark cut on the C-pillar at -dimension A-  > Distance 77 mm  .

    2. 2.2  Mark cut on the D-pillar in the window aperture area at -dimension B-  > Distance 14 mm  .

    3. 2.3  Mark cut on the D-pillar in the water drain channel area at -dimension A-  > Distance 27 mm  .

    4. 2.4  Mark the cut on lower side panel at -dimension A-  > Distance 25 mm  .

  3. Make cuts.
  4. Disconnect connection points > Connection points.

    Connection points

    1. 4.1  Drill through clinch points in areas -A-  using a > diameter 4 mm  .
    2. 4.2  Remove punch rivets in areas -B-  using > VAS 852 001 - aluminum body dent removal system  and > VAS 6790 - compact booster  .

  5. Remove punch rivets > Punch rivets  using > VAS 852 001 - body dent removal system, aluminum  and > VAS 6790 - compact booster  .

  6. Release sheet-metal brackets-1 and 2-  .

    1. 6.1  Heat sheet-metal bracket -2-  using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower  .
    2. 6.2  Bend up sheetmetal brackets -1 and 2-  .
  7. Heat bonding areas > Bonding areas  using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower  . > Bonding areas

  8. Remove rear side section.
