Preliminary Work: Overview

Information 

• Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this. 

1. Remove rear side panel.

   >535555 REPLACING REAR SIDE PANEL  - section on "Installing"

2. Remove D-pillar reinforcement (section).

   >53305505 REPLACING D-PILLAR REINFORCEMENT (SECTION)  - section on "Removing"

3. Remove lock carrier.
   1. 3.1  Damaged side:

      Unscrew self-tapping screw -1-  .

   2. 3.2  Damaged side:

      Remove punch rivets using > VAS 852 001 - Body Dent Removal System, Aluminium  and > VAS 6790 - Compact Booster  .

4. Remove end plate for cross member.
   1. 4.1  Unscrew self-tapping screws -1-  .
