Subsequent Work After Extracting/Disposing Of Contaminated Refrigerant In The Refrigerant Circuit

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

If contaminated refrigerant was found in the vehicle's refrigerant circuit during the gas analysis performed using the air conditioning servicing equipment, you can use the two examples provided below as a guide to what to do next.

Contaminated refrigerant did not cause any internal damage in the refrigerant circuit:

Apparent from the normal usual discolouration of the refrigerant oil.

Replace condenser with dryer.

> 875019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONDENSER

Evacuate the refrigerant circuit for at least 1 hour.

Fill refrigerant circuit using air conditioning servicing equipment for R1234yf.

Check cooling output.

Contaminated refrigerant caused internal damage in the refrigerant circuit:

Apparent from the significant discolouration of the refrigerant oil (as a result of damaged control elements or overheating of the air-conditioning compressor)

Remove condenser with desiccator, expansion valve and air-conditioning compressor.

  1. Check the condition of the inner surface of the refrigerant lines and refrigerant hoses (visual inspection). If damage is found, replace the relevant components.

Clean the refrigerant circuit. We recommend that you do not use the air-conditioning servicing equipment to flush this as there is a risk of contaminating the air-conditioning servicing equipment with contaminated refrigerant and this can cause the air-conditioning servicing equipment to stop working. Replace all components or clean with compressed air and nitrogen.

    Install new condenser with desiccator.

    > 875019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONDENSER

    Install new expansion valve.

    > 877019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING EXPANSION VALVE

    Install new air-conditioning compressor.

    > 873419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIR-CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR

Fill refrigerant circuit using air conditioning servicing equipment for R1234yf.

  2. Check cooling output.
