Preparing bonding surfaces: Cleaning

To prevent possible grease residue from spreading onto the surface when sanding down the surface until bare at a later stage, clean the bonding surfaces using a lint-free cloth soaked in isopropanol or acetone. Leave cleaned surfaces to dry for 15 minutes.

Degreasing bonding surfaces

Then clean the bare bonding flange areas using a lint-free cloth soaked in isopropanol or acetone until there are no more residues on the cloth.

Leave cleaned surfaces to dry off for 15 minutes; the bonding surfaces must be completely dry.

Information

After the last cleaning step, adhesive must be applied within 4 hours to prevent it from getting dirty again and to prevent an oxide layer from forming on the aluminium material. If adhesive is not applied within 4 hours, repeat the preparation process.
