Information
- When the adhesive oozes out along the entire length of the joint on both sides, enough adhesive has been applied.
- 1 195 ml cartridge is sufficient for a flange length of approx. 5 m.
Information
Adhesive cartridges must only be used with piston-driven applicator guns.
Information
Adhesive must be free of damage. Deformed adhesive must not be used.
- Prepare bonding gun, > V.A.G 1628 - hand-cartridge gun or > VAS 6648 - pneumatic gun or > V.A.G 1761/1 - pneumatic cartridge gun .
- Press out adhesive without the mixing tube until both components emerge from the cartridge.
- Fit mixing tube on the cartridge and check that adhesive comes out.
Checking emerging adhesive
- 3.1 Make sure that the two-component adhesive is mixed evenly in the mixing tube.
- 3.2 Before applying adhesive to the joints, apply a 10-20 cm long bead of adhesive to a paper towel or similar item and dispose of it later. The hardening process can also be checked using this bead.
- 3.3 Also apply a bead of adhesive approx. 10 cm long to a paper towel or similar item for the sample test.
- Apply adhesive.
- 4.1
Apply adhesive to both flanges of the joints.
Applying adhesive
- 4.2
Spread adhesive over the surface of both flanges of the joint using a clean tool. > Application depth 0.5 mm
Spreading adhesive out evenly
- 4.3 Areas without a cathodic-dip coating and bare body panels in cavities must be brushed or filled with structural adhesive.
- 4.1
Apply adhesive to both flanges of the joints.
- Apply an additional bead of adhesive in the centre of the joint.
Bead of adhesive at the edges
- Join components.
Joining components
- 6.1
Assemble parts, secure them and join them within the specified processing time.
The joining process must be performed immediately after applying adhesive in order to guarantee a high quality and reliable bond.
Otherwise, the adhesive bead must be removed and pre-treatment of the surface and application of the adhesive must be repeated.
The layer thickness of the adhesive following joining must not be more than > Layer thickness 1 mm .
- 6.1
Assemble parts, secure them and join them within the specified processing time.
- Remove excess adhesive.
Removing excess adhesive
- 7.1 Remove excess adhesive with a clean cloth.
- 7.2
Give visible surfaces a final clean using a clean cloth soaked in acetone.
Hardened material can only be removed by mechanical means.
