Adjusting lid in z direction

Information 

• The side adjusting elements on the rear lid must be adjusted so that there is a slight preload when the rear lid is closed completely. 
• The preload must be equal on the left and right. 

Information 

• It should still be possible to pull the paper strip out when the rear lid is closed. If the paper strip can be pulled out easily or cannot be pulled out at all, then the preload on the adjusting elements must be corrected. 

1. Adjust the joint between the lid and side panel.
   1. 1.1  Remove cap on bodyshell at the left and right and loosen screw -1-  at the left and right.
   2. 1.2  Move the side stop -2-  at the left and right up or down -arrows-  .

   3. 1.3  Check adjustment of the rubber stops at the sides using the paper strip test:
      • Side rubber stops too loose: Move side stop at the left or right up by one notch (=1 mm). Then carry out paper strip test again. Move side rubber stop at the left or right further up if necessary.
      • Rubber stops too tight: Move side rubber stop at the left or right down by one notch (= 1 mm). Then carry out paper strip test again. Move side rubber stop at the left or right further down if necessary.

2. Tighten screw on the rubber stop at the left and right. > Tightening torque 10 N.m (7.5 ft.lb) 
3. Install cap on bodyshell at the left and right.
4. Adjust joint between rear lid and rear spoiler.
   1. 4.1  Turning -arrow A-  the rubber stops -1-  at the left or right adjusts the height and preload of the lid with respect to the rear spoiler.

   2. 4.2  Carry out paper strip test and check preload and gap dimensions:
      • Rear lid projects out too far: Reduce the preload by screwing in the rubber stop at the left or right.
      • Rear lid does not project down far enough: Increase the preload by unscrewing the rubber stop at the left or right.
