Checking The Cooling System For Leaks

WARNING:
Coolant outlet in the high-voltage battery
- Risk of short circuit or fire
→ Read out the fault memory of all high-voltage systems before checking the pressure of the cooling system.
→ In the event of an insulation fault, do not apply pressure to the cooling system.
→ In the event of an insulation fault, have a high-voltage expert take care of the issue.
WARNING:
Hot fluid
- Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
- Check the fault memory of all high-voltage systems. If there are insulation faults, hand over to a high-voltage expert.
- Open the cap on the reservoir.
- > V.A.G 1274B - Cooling system tester must be connected to the coolant reservoir using a suitable adapter from > VAS 6562 - test adapters for cooling system tester .
- Build up pressure of approx. 1.0 bar using the hand pump on the cooling system tester.
- If this pressure is not maintained, find the leak and correct the problem.
- Check pressure relief valve in the cap.
- 6.1 > V.A.G 1274B - Cooling system tester must be attached to the cap.
- 6.2 Build up overpressure using the hand vacuum pump on the cooling system tester.
- 6.3 The pressure relief valve must open at an overpressure of between 1.4 and 1.6 bar.
- If the pressure relief valve does not open, replace the cap.
