Subsequent Work

NOTE: Dirt and contamination
  • Risk of Carnage to units or components

    → Protect components from dirt and contamination.

    → Clean or replace dirty components.

Information 

  1. Install cylinder head.

    157019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CYLINDER HEAD

  2. Install oil pan.

    175019 REMOVE AND INSTALL OIL PAN

  3. Install camshafts.

    150520 REMOVE AND INSTALL CAMSHAFTS (SET WITH CONTROLS)

  4. Install cylinder head cover.

    158219 REMOVE AND INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD COVER

  5. Install solenoid valve for valve lift adjustment.

    155519 REMOVE AND INSTALL SOLENOID VALVE FOR VALVE LIFT ADJUSTMENT

  6. Install ignition coils.

    282020 REMOVE AND INSTALL IGNITION COILS

  7. Install coolant pipe -1-  for coolant regulator housing.

    Fit coolant pipe -1-  with new O-rings  for the coolant regulator housing.

    Screw in and tighten screw -2-  .

    > Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)

  8. Install coolant pump.

    195019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COOLANT PUMP

  9. Install lower coolant guide -1-  .

    Fit lower coolant guide -1-  .

    Tighten screws -2-  .

    > Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)

  10. Install coolant regulator housing.

    195519 REMOVE AND INSTALL COOLANT REGULATOR HOUSING

  11. Install coolant distributor housing.

    195919 REMOVE AND INSTALL COOLANT DISTRIBUTOR HOUSING

  12. Install belt tensioner damper.

    137319 REMOVE AND INSTALL BELT TENSIONER DAMPER

  13. Install lower Coolant pipe -1-  .

    Fit lower coolant pipe.

    Fit and tighten screw -2-  .

    > Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

  14. Secure coolant connection piece -1-  .

    Screw in and tighten screws -2-  .

    > Tightening torque 33 Nm (24 ftlb.)

  15. Install heat shield for coolant connection piece -1-  .

    Fit heat shield for coolant connection piece -1-  .

    Fit and tighten screws -2-  .

    > Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.) 

    Position electric line -3-  and clip-in clips -4-  .

  16. Install high-pressure pump.

    246319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HIGH-PRESSURE PUMP

  17. Install knock sensors.

    287219 REMOVE AND INSTALL KNOCK SENSOR

  18. Install oil cooler bracket.

    176719 REMOVE AND INSTALL OIL COOLER BRACKET

  19. Install oil cooler with coolant hoses.

    174019 REMOVE AND INSTALL OIL COOLER (OIL/WATER HEAT EXCHANGER)

  20. Install coolant collection unit and coolant lines (on the oil-water heat exchanger).

    Coat new O-rings -1-  with Kluber Gel.

    Insert coolant collection unit -1-  into connecting pipes -2-  .

    Screw in and tighten strews -2-  .

    > Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)

  21. Install fuel line.

    249019 REMOVE AND INSTALL FUEL LINE

  22. Secure coolant hoses -1-  on the oil cooler.

    Vehicles with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC):  Connect hydraulic lines (not shown).

    Clip-in crankcase vent line -3-  .

    Connect coolant hoses -1-  .

    Fasten spring band clamps -2-  using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers  .

  23. Remove hall sender.

    283919 REMOVE AND INSTALL HALL SENDER

  24. Install starter.

    276019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING STARTER

  25. Install shield.

    261219 REMOVE AND INSTALL SHIELD

  26. Vehicles with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC):  Install hydraulic pump together with pressure and return lines.

    430619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PUMP (PDCC)

  27. Vehicles without Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC):  Install deflection roller support -1-  .

    Screw in and tighten screws -2-  .

    > Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) 

    Screw in and tighten screw -3-  .

    > Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)

  28. Install the compressor.

    873419 REMOVE AND INSTALL THE COMPRESSOR

  29. Install crankcase vent line.

    Fit positive crankcase vent line with new O-rings and clip into holder.

    Clip in connections.

  30. Install oil filler neck.

    Lightly grease new O-ring and fit it.

    Fit oil filler neck into the crankcase.

    Fit and tighten screws -1-  .

    > Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)

  31. Install main wire harness in engine compartment.

    970909 LOOSENING AND SECURING MAIN WIRE HARNESS IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT

  32. Install intake distributor.

    244619 REMOVE AND INSTALL INTAKE DISTRIBUTOR

  33. Secure lower part of oil filler neck to the top holder.

    Fit and tighten screw -2-  .

    > Final tightening 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.) 

    Fit vent line -1-  into the oil filler neck -Arrow-  .

  34. Install generator.

    272219 REMOVE AND INSTALL GENERATOR

  35. Install actuators for camshaft control.

    Refer to the appropriate service information.

  36. Install coolant supply -1-  pipe.

    Fit coolant supply pipe -1-  with new O-rings  into the coolant regulator housing.

    Fit. and tighten screw -3-  .

    > Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.) 

    Fitting and tightening screw on coolant pipe holder -2-  .

    > Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)

  37. Install turbocharger together with exhaust manifold and lines.

    213019 REMOVE AND INSTALL TURBOCHARGER

    261019 REMOVE AND INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD

  38. Install valve block with vacuum lines.

    242319 REMOVE AND INSTALL VALVE BLOCK

  39. Install drive belt.

    137855 REPLACE DRIVE BELT

  40. Install drive belt cover and generator cover.

    138419 REMOVE AND INSTALL DRIVE BELT COVER

  41. Install exhaust system.

    260119 REMOVE AND INSTALL EXHAUST SYSTEM

  42. Remove engine from engine assembly support.

    > 1001IN TOOLS FOR REMOVING UNITS AND WORKING ON THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY SUPPORT 

  43. Install flywheel.

    136019 REMOVE AND INSTALL FLYWHEEL

  44. Flange the transmission.

    343527 INSTALL AND UNINSTALL TRANSMISSION

    373427 REMOVE AND MOUNT PORSCHE DOUBLE CLUTCH TRANSMISSION

  45. Install the engine.

    > 100119 REMOVE AND INSTALL ENGINE 

  46. Fill engine oil.

    170117 DRAIN AND ALL ENGINE OIL

  47. Check engine oil level.

    170101 CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL
