  1. Remove engine.

    > 100119 REMOVE AND INSTALL ENGINE 

  2. Removing transmission.

  3. Removing flywheel

  4. Mount the engine on the engine assembly support.

    > 1001IN TOOLS FOR REMOVING UNITS AND WORKING ON THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY SUPPORT 

  5. Drain engine oil.

    170117 DRAIN AND ALL ENGINE OIL

  6. Remove exhaust system.

    Information 

    Do not loosen screws between the drive belt cover and generator cover.

  7. Remove drive belt cover and generator cover.

    138419 REMOVE AND INSTALL DRIVE BELT COVER

  8. Remove drive belt.

    137819 REMOVE AND INSTALL DRIVE BELT

  9. Remove valve block for vacuum system with vacuum lines.

    Information 

    First, unscrew the top screws, then the bottom screws on the exhaust manifold.

  10. Remove turbocharger with exhaust manifold and lines.

  11. Remove lea: shield.

  12. Remove coolant pipe -1-  from the coolant regulator housing.

    Unscrew -2-  screw on coolant pipe holder.

    Unscrew -3-  screw on coolant regulator housing.

    Remove coolant pipe and replace O-rings.

  13. Remove high-pressure pumps.

    246319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HIGH-PRESSURE PUMP

  14. Disconnect positive crankcase ventilation line and oil filler neck holder on the intake-air distributor.

    Press latching ring on the vent line -1-  together -Arrows A-  and pull off vent line -1-  in -Arrow direction B-  .

    Unscrew -2-  screws on holder.

  15. Remove intake distributor.

  16. Remove engine wiring harness.

    970909 LOOSENING AND SECURING MAIN WIRING HARNESS IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT

  17. Remove fuel lines.

    249019 REMOVE AND INSTALL FUEL LINE

  18. Remove -2-  oil filler neck.

    Unscrew screws -1-  .

    Pull oil filler neck -Arrow direction-  out of the crankcase in.

    Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.

  19. Remove positive crankcase ventilation line. -1-

    Unscrew screw on oil module -4-  and disconnect adapter.

    Replace O-rings -5-  .

    Unclip -3 and 7-  connections.

    Disconnect positive crankcase ventilation line, unclip it from the holder and remove it.

  20. Disconnect -1-  coolant hoses from the oil cooler.

    Release spring band clamps -2-  using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers  and disconnect coolant hoses from the power electronics -1-  .

    Unclip positive crankcase ventilation line -3-  .

    For vehicles with PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control):  Pull off hydraulic lines (not shown).

    Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.

  21. Loosen -1-  coolant collection unit.

    Unscrew screws -2-  .

    Pull coolant collection unit -1-  out of the connecting pipes -2-  .

    Replace O-rings.

  22. Remove hall sender.

  23. Vehicles without Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC):  Unscrew screw -2 and 3-  and remove support with deflection roller -1-  .

  24. Vehicles with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC):  Remove pump (PDCC) together with pressure and return lines.

  25. Remove the generator.

  26. Remove compressor.

  27. Remove the starter.

  28. Remove heat shield for coolant connection piece -1-  .

    Unclip clip -4-  from cross member and move electric line -3-  aside.

    Unscrew screws -2-  .

  29. Unscrew screws -2-  on coolant -1-  connection piece.

  30. Remove coolant connection piece with directional-control valve and coolant pipe.

    Unscrew screws on holder -2-  .

    Pull off lower -1-  coolant pipe.

    Remove coolant connection piece together with directional-control valve and coolant pipe.

  31. Remove belt tensioner damper.

  33. Remove oil cooler bracket with oil cooler.

    If necessary, remove oil cooler, clean components by hand and replace seals.

  34. Remove knock sensor.

  35. Remove the cylinder head cover.

  36. Remove camshafts.

  37. Remove cylinder head at the left and right.

  38. Removing solenoid valve for valve lift adjustment.

  39. Remove coolant regulator housing.

  40. Remove coolant connecting tube.

    Unscrew screw -2-  on the retaining bracket and remove coolant connecting tube.

  41. Remove lower coolant guide -1-  .

    Unscrew screws -2-  and remove lower coolant guide -1-  .

  42. Remove coolant pump.
