Installing A-Pillar (Cabriolet)
Information
- Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive.
- The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed.
- Do not begin bonding work until all mater ials and tools necessary for later repair work are available.
- Tack on sheetmetal insert used as welding backing strip on the body.
Welding backing strip
- Install A-pillar (Cabriolet) and check that it fits perfectly.
- Apply adhesive evenly on the joint area of the body -A-

Marked areas
- Apply adhesive on A-pillar (Cabriolet) in area -A-
.
Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface. > Application depth 0.5 mm
Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surface. > Application depth 3 mm

Connection areas
- Apply resistance spot-weld to A-pillar (Cabriolet).
Spotwelds
- Apply a full weld to upper part of A-pillar (Cabriolet) in area of separation point using inert gas.
Cut
- Apply a full weld to lower part of A-pillar (Cabriolet) using inert gas -1-
.
Welded seams
