Subsequent Work

WARNING: Vehicle can fall down 
  • Risk of squashing or crushing 
  • Risk of damage to the vehicle 
    • → Do not place any solid objects under the raised vehicle.
    • → Ensure that the lifting platform is prevented from lowering.
    • → Remove solid objects before lowering the vehicle.
    • → Raise the vehicle only at the jacking points provided.
    • → The outer jacking points should be used primarily.
  1. Tighten screws and nuts securing engine mount and side panel to body.
    1. 1.1 M12 collar nut for engine mount:

      Initial tightening: > Initial tightening 40 Nm (30 ftlb.) 

      Final tightening: > Final tightening torque angle 90 Grad 

    2. 1.2 M10 collar nut for side panel: > Tightening torque 65 Nm (47.9 ftlb.) 
    3. 1.3 Initial tightening for screw M10 x 80 on side panel: > initial tightening 30 Nm (22.1 ftlb.) 
    4. 1.4 Final tightening for screw M10 x 80 on side panel: > final tightening + 90° 
  2. Secure transmission mount to side panel.
    1. 2.1 Screws and M8 collar nuts: > Tightening torque 33 Nm (24.3 ftlb.) 
  3. Connect coolant hose to the coolant collection unit.
  4. Secure diagonal arm.
    1. 4.1 Fit and tighten M12 screws (right side with heat shield -1-  ).
    2. 4.2 Initial tightening: > Initial tightening 80 Nm (59 ftlb.) 
    3. 4.3 Final tightening torque angle: > Final tightening + 60°

  5. Fit vacuum line for transmission mount.
  6. Connect cable plug for transmission wire harness, adaptive transmission mounts (if fitted) and sensors for headlight levelling system.
  7. Secure ground strap to body or engine.
    1. 7.1 M8 screw:

      Threaded joint on cylinder head:> Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) 

      Threaded joint on body: > Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) 

  8. Fit plug connections for oxygen sensors.
  9. Install strut -1-  .
    1. 9.1 Tighten M10 screws -2-  .

      > Tightening torque 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)

    1. Strut
    2. M10 screws
    3. Oxygen sensor connector (blue cable) on cylinder bank 1-2
    4. Regulating sensor connector (black cable)
  10. Fit air-conditioning lines.

    > WM, 874319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPRESSOR/CONDENSER LINE (SECTION FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT TO REAR UNDERBODY CONNECTION POINT)

    > 9822 - Assembly tool  must be used for countering.

    1. 10.1 Screws, M8 x 28:

      > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.5 ftlb.) 

    WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials 
    • Danger of fire or explosion 
      • → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
      • → Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
      • → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
      • → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
      • → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.
  11. Connect fuel line and vent line on the underbody and clip it in.
  12. Install vacuum line for brake booster and connect vacuum hose.
  13. Install brake callipers.

    > 474119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR BRAKE CALLIPER .

  14. Secure B+ line to the B+ box and close the cover.

    > Tightening torque 12 Nm (9 ftlb.) +/- 1 Nm (0.5 ftlb.) 

  15. Fit coolant hoses at the top.
    • Coolant hoses on engine
    • Coolant hose for heating
    • Coolant hoses on charge-air cooler
  16. Insert oil filler pipe.
  17. Connect lower vent line to the coolant reservoir.
  18. Guide engine wire harness through the opening in the body and connect it in the luggage compartment.

    > WM, 975219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WIRE HARNESS FOR ENGINE

    1. 18.1 Lightly grease rubber sleeve and fasten in place.
  19. Secure DME control unit.

    > 247019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DIGITAL ENGINE ELECTRONICS CONTROL UNIT

    .

  20. Install air guide for control unit.
    1. 20.1 Tighten plastic nuts (M6).

      > Tightening torque 3 Nm (2 ftlb.) 

  21. Secure spring struts in luggage compartment.

    > 427119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR SPRING STRUT .

  22. Vehicles with particle filter: 

    Secure differential pressure sensor hoses -1-  .

    1. 22.1 Push on differential pressure sensor hoses -1-  and tighten spring band clamps -2-  using > VAS 6890 - Spring Band Clamp Pliers  .

  23. Fit luggage compartment trim.

    > WM, 700619 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM PANEL

  24. Fill the air-conditioning system.

    > WM, 870317 DRAINING AND FILLING REFRIGERANT R134A or WM, 870317 DRAINING AND FILLING REFRIGERANT R1234YF

  25. Connect the battery.

    > 2X00IN WORK INSTRUCTIONS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY .

  26. Fill up coolant.

    > 193817 DRAINING AND FILLING COOLANT .

  27. Bleed the cooling system.

    > WM, 190107 - BLEEDING THE COOLING SYSTEM

  28. Check all fluid levels and seal tightness after the engine test run.
  29. Install rear wall cover.

    > WM, 555919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR WALL FLAP

  30. Install engine compartment lid.

    > WM, 557819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID

  31. Remove protective covers.
  32. Boxster vehicles:  Close convertible top.
  33. Mount rear wheels.

    > 440519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL

    .

  34. Perform suspension alignment.

    > 449503 SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT, COMPLETE .
