Checking The Cooling System For Leaks
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
WARNING:
Coolant outlet in the high-voltage battery
- Risk of short circuit or fire
→ Read out the fault memory of all high-voltage systems before checking the pressure of the cooling system.
→ In the event of an insulation fault, do not apply pressure to the cooling system.
→ In the event of an insulation fault, have a high-voltage expert take care of the issue.
- Check the engine coolant level. See above. Top up to the maximum fill level if necessary.
- On hybrid models, check the fault memory of all high-voltage systems. If there are insulation faults, hand over to a high-voltage expert.
- Fit cooling system tester > V.A.G 1274B - Cooling system tester
with adapter > V.A.G 1274/8 - Adapter for cooling system tester
to the coolant reservoir.
Information
- The pressure must not drop.
- There must be no drops of coolant.
- Apply test pressure of approx. 1.5 bar and visually check hose connections, connection pieces and cooling system components for leaks.
- If the pressure drops, find the leak and correct the problem.
