Important notes:
- The cardan shaft must not be repaired.
- Do not kink the rear cardan shaft; only store and transport it in elongated position.
- Set rear cardan shaft with the holder down facing upwards.
- Mark the position of all parts in relation to each other before removal.
- Re-install at the same position (possible bearing damage and humming noise due to imbalance if not re-installed at the same position.
Information
- Do not carry out any repair work on the cardan shaft.
- Set rear cardan shaft with centre bearing holder down facing upwards.
- Mark the position of all parts in relation to each other before removal.
- Re-install at the same position (possible bearing damage and humming noise due to imbalance if not reinstalled at the same position).
- The help of another person is required.
- Unscrew the heat shield -1-
and heat shield holder -2-
from the tunnel support and remove the tunnel support.
Removing heat shield and holder
- Unscrew screws -Arrows-
and remove damper.
Screws on damper
- Mark the installation position of the cardan shaft -arrow-
on the transfer gear and on the rear final drive using a colored pen. 1)
Marking installation position of cardan shaft
- The final drives and cardan shafts are paired in the production process, so it is important to maintain the original position.
- Remove tunnel support.
- Press the cardan shaft off the transfer gear journal and rear final drive using a mounting lever -A-
.
(Use a commercially available mounting lever that is about 600 mm long, e.g. Hazet 652)
Pressing off cardan shaft
- Screw off centre bearing holder -1-
.

NOTE: NOTIFICATION
Incorrect handling of cardan shaft- Risk of damage to the cardan shaft
- Risk of damage to the centre bearing
- Humming noises caused by defective centre bearing
→ When one of the two flanges on the cardan shaft has been released, relieve the tension on the centre bearing.
→ Follow the recommended procedures during installation, otherwise the position of the cardan shaft in its original place is no longer guaranteed.
→ Do not kink the cardan shaft (bend by max. 10°); only store and transport it in elongated position.
Information
The help of another person is required.
- Pull the cardan shaft off both journals and remove in a downward direction.
- Set down the cardan shaft with the centre bearing holder facing upwards.
