Install E-Box

    → Only appropriately trained and authorized persons may work on high-voltage vehicles and components.

    → Required qualification: High voltage technician or high voltage expert.

    → Observe national requirements and legislation for this work.

    → Always use insulated tools, such as an > VAS 6883 - insulated tool set  when working on these parts.

    → Observe general warning notices for working on the high-voltage system.

  1. Install E-box.
    1. 1.1 Replace seals.
    2. 1.2 Carefully position E-box.
    3. 1.3 Screw in fastening screw -4-  .

      Replace micro-self-locking screw.

      Loosening E-box

      Information 

      Immediately after removing a centring pin, screw in and fit the fastening screw.

    4. 1.4 > 9924 - Centring pins-3-  must now be unscrewed.

    5. 1.5 Screw in -1-  fastening screws.

      Replace micro-self-locking screws.

    6. 1.6 Fit fastening screws securing E-box to high-voltage battery and tighten to > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  .
  2. Perform leak test on the battery housing using > 9925 - leak-tightness test set  , > T40349 - seal plug  , > T40354 - seal plug  and > VAS 6213 - Hand vacuum pump  .

    > 270801 PERFORMING LEAK TEST ON HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY 

  3. Fit pressure accumulator and load distributor plate.
    1. 3.1 Position load distributor plate together with lower bar on the high-voltage battery.
    2. 3.2 Position retaining frame together with the pressure accumulator on the high-voltage battery.
    3. 3.3 Fit fastening screws -6-  and tighten to > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  .

    4. 3.4 Fit fastening screws -5-  and tighten to > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  .

  4. Secure retaining frame at the top.
    1. 4.1 Fit fastening screws -4-  and tighten to > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  .

    2. 4.2 Screw in fastening screws -A to D and 1 to 12-  by a couple of turns.
    3. 4.3 Fit fastening screws -A, B, C and D-  in this sequence and tighten to > Tightening torque 28 Nm (21 ftlb.) +/- 2 Nm (1.5 ftlb.)  .
    4. 4.4 Fit fastening screws (M8 x 30) -1, 2, 3 and 4-  in this sequence and tighten to > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)  .
    5. 4.5 Fit fastening screws (M8 x 18) -5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12-  in this sequence and tighten to > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)  .
