Setting self-tapping screws

- Align and secure body parts.
- Drill body parts using a small drill bit (-X-
mm).
- Remove body parts.
- Drill into the outer component (-Y- mm).
- De-burr all bore holes.
- Prepare bonding surfaces and bond body parts. → 5X00IN21 WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE
- Align and secure body parts.
- Screw on body parts using a special screw.
- 8.1. Fit screw.
- 8.2. Screw in screw using a drill set to a high speed (> 1, 000 RPM).
Screwing in the screw at high speed shapes the cylindrical extrusion.
- 8.3. Groove the metric thread without tension.
- 8.4. Continue to screw in at low speed (< 100 RPM).
Information
If the prescribed torque or torque angle is not reached when screwing in screws (screw does not tighten securely), the next size screw must be used.
- 8.5. Tighten the screw to the prescribed torque or torque angle.
- 8.1. Fit screw.
