Setting flow-form rivets

The pressed-out or pulled-out punch rivets and drilled-out penetrated joints can be replaced by flow-form rivets during repairs if a low joint height is also required. Contrary to the standard procedure, all riveted joints are also bonded.

1. Straighten the flanges at the rivet point separately on both sheetmetal panels using Compact Booster WE 1670  and punch and bottom die pair -D17 + D17-  from rivet inserts set WE 1703  .

   Information 

   We recommend that you use punch D19 with thread. Screw punch D19 securely in the piston rod using the supplied wrench set.

   Information 

   Adapt the pressure setting on the Compact Booster WE 1670 to the existing plate thicknesses of the connection points:

   • Connection thickness 2 - 3 mm : Pressure setting 3 
   • Connection thickness 3 - 4 mm : Pressure setting 3.5 
   • Connection thickness 4 - 5 mm : Pressure setting 4 
2. Punch and stamp holes for flow-form rivets through both sheetmetal panels using Compact Booster WE 1670  and punch and bottom die pair -D18 or D19 with D20-  from rivet inserts set WE 1703  .

3. Set and press in flow-form rivets using Compact Booster WE 1670  and punch and bottom die pair -D21 + S9-  from rivet inserts set WE 1703  .
